Our librarians were asked: "You're stranded, a la Tom Hanks, on a desert island for an indeterminate amount of time. You have the magical ability to summon one—and only one—book. What do you pick?" Here are their answers!
Notes
"If I were stranded, I’d want to make sure I could survive long enough to be rescued."

"Romance novels have been my guilty pleasure since I started sneaking them from my mom’s collection as a teenager. I fell in love with Talia Hibbert’s books more recently, and I really connected with Chloe in particular as I also have a chronic illness."

Notes
"One of the best books of all time, hands down. There's something new to discover every single time as you continue to appreciate Jones' genius and play with words, symbolism, and characterization."

"My reasons for picking Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty are because it is a book that I can reread and always learn something new of how to make my life more meaningful. I appreciate how he tells simply stories that most people can relate to, rather than preaching about how to live a better, more purposeful life. He brings humor and sincerity to his storytelling and wisdom and this would be invaluable on a desert island."

"J.R. Rowlings series, Harry Potter, deserves my utmost attention. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to dedicate adequate time to enjoy this classic series, and what a better time to indulge in reading than while stranded on a deserted island? I would welcome the peace and quiet (between foraging for food, of course) to delve into this literary fantasy series and expand my perspectives on both the genre and youth literature."
